Spinal Tech

Chicago-based Rush Health signed a direct employer contract to provide orthopedic and spine surgeries to United Airlines' employees.

Here are four observations:

1. Under the partnership, United employees and family members across the United States will be able to receive spinal fusion and hip and knee replacement surgeries at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and at other Rush Health facilities in the future.

2. The program was established through Rush Health's Centers of Excellence program, which enables employers to partner with healthcare specialists.

3. The goals of the COE program are to provide better coverage and to keep employee's health costs low.

4. Employees who receive surgery at Rush Health facilities, under the partnership, are not responsible for co-payment and coinsurance costs.
