Quebec City, Canada-based Bodycad received FDA clearance for its Unicompartmental Knee System.
Here are four things to know:
1. Bodycad is the first Canadian company to win FDA clearance for a joint reconstruction implant system.
2. The Unicompartmental Knee Systems are personalized for each patient's anatomy based on 3D renderings of medical images.
3. Precise 3D images allow surgeons to fit the system to a patient's knee with less trauma to the soft tissue than traditional procedures, thus increasing the potential for a speedier recovery.
4. Bodycad Founder and CEO Jean Robichaud said, "Our proprietary software is based on 20 years of research in anthropometric data and is the first CAD/CAM software specifically developed for the personalization of orthopedic implant and instrument design."
