CoreLink acquires medical device company: 5 key details

Spinal Tech

CoreLink acquired Israel-based Expanding Orthopedics, a privately held medical device developer.

Here are five key details:

1. The acquisition includes Expanding Orthopedics' various patents and in-development products aimed at the expandable interbody and spinal fusion markets.

2. CoreLink believes the acquisition will further boost its recently launched FLXfit and FLXfit 15 titanium interbody systems.

3. FLXfit 15 is a titanium transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion device used in minimally invasive surgery. The device aids with the disc placement along the anterior aspect of the apophyseal ring to provide up to 40 millimeters of footprint length along the critical anterior column.

4. CoreLink is planning for a full commercial re-launch of the two systems in the third quarter of 2018.

5. "This acquisition provides two key benefits for CoreLink and its customers: a very compelling offering in the growing expandable interbody product category and a portfolio of innovative intellectual property from which we can advance spine care," said CoreLink CEO Jay Bartling.
