Here are 10 updates on devicemaker Medtronic in the first half of 2024, as reported by Becker's:

1. Karen Parkhill, who is Medtronic's CFO, will resign from her role in August.

2. A Class I recall was issued for Medtronic's StealthStation System with StealthStation Cranial software, which is used for locating anatomical structures during neurosurgery.

3. Medtronic laid off 44 employees from its Carlsbad, Calif., facility.

4. Medtronic earned FDA approval for its Inceptiv closed-loop spinal cord stimulator.

5. Yarmela Pavlovic was appointed chief regulatory officer of Medtronic.

6. Medtronic Neurosurgery issued a Class I recall affecting 45,176 Duet external drainage and monitoring system catheter tubing following 26 reported injuries. 

7. Medtronic was named among the world's most ethical companies.

8. The company appointed Raman Venkatesh as the company's first chief sustainability officer.

9. Medtronic partnered with Hall of Fame Health to expand access to spine and neurological care.

10. In January, Medtronic announced plans to close more than five manufacturing sites and six distribution centers by the end of April.
