Accelus launches interbody cage for endoscopic, minimally invasive spinal fusion

Accelus launched its TiHawk7 interbody cage for endoscopic and minimally invasive lumbar fusions.

The system is part of the devicemaker's FlareHawk interbody portfolio and has an ultra-low profile with titanium at the bony interface, according to a May 5 news release. The first case with the TiHawk7 was completed at Ortho NorthEast in Fort Wayne, Ind. Micah Smith, MD, used the system for a two-level, percutaneous, minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion.

Another surgeon, Samuel Joseph Jr., MD, used the system in an endoscopic TLIF procedure.

"TiHawk7 adds a new level of confidence to my minimally invasive procedures with its innovative application of titanium while reducing the risk of subsidence, delamination or implant failure," Dr. Joseph said in the release.
