Zachary Adam Smith, MD, is a neurosurgeon at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. His clinical interests focus on minimally invasive spinal techniques for adult degenerative spinal disease, spinal tumors, trauma and spinal column deformity.
He is as an assistant professor of neurological surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and serves on the medical staff at two Feinberg-affiliated hospitals in Illinois: Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital. His research, which has been published in Nature and Journal of Neurosurgery, focuses on minimally invasive spinal techniques. He is on the editorial board of both PLOS ONE and Operative Neurosurgery.
Dr. Smith earned his medical degree at UCLA in Los Angeles, where he also performed a neurosurgery residency and a minimally invasive surgery fellowship. He went on to complete a minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago.
