Mark Mikhael, MD, is a board certified orthopedic surgeon at Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University Health System.
Dr. Mikhael specializes in the surgical treatment of spine disorders, especially in complex cervical spine surgery. He is also experienced in nerve decompression surgery and complex spinal reconstruction.
Dr. Mikhael received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He underwent orthopedic spine surgery fellowship training at UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Illinois, California, and Minnesota.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mikhael is a member of the North American Spine Society and AO Spine International, among other professional organizations. Dr. Mikhael serves as a manuscript reviewer for Spine, has authored multiple papers in scientific journals and is actively involved in spine care research. He helped develop a cervical fixation device and a product to stimulate bone growth and is a member of the radiology and evidence-based guidelines committees of the North American Spine Society.
