Daniel M. Birk, MD, is a neurosurgeon and the director of the Neurosurgery Spine Center at Stony Brook (N.Y.) Medicine.
Dr. Birk is also an assistant neurosurgery professor at Stony Brook Medicine. He specializes in minimally invasive spinal fusion and endoscopic spine surgery, with expertise in degenerative and herniated discs, cervical arthroplasty, lumbar spinal fusion, scoliosis repair, spondylolisthesis and brain and spinal tumors.
He received his medical degree from New York City-based Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Chicago-based University of Illinois College of Medicine, where he also received additional training in functional, stereotactic and pain neurosurgery.
