Simon Chao, MD, is section chief of adult spine surgery in the division of orthopedic surgery at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton, Mass.
Dr. Chao specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, including techniques such as balloon kyphoplasty, which treats vertebral compression fractures caused by osteoporosis, cancer and non-cancerous tumors.
He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Graduating from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Chao went on to complete an orthopedic residency at Temple University Hospital and the Harvard Orthopaedics Combined Residency Program at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Dr. Chao also completed a fellowship in adult spine surgery at MGH.
His professional memberships also include the North American Spine Society, the American Association of Orthopedic Surgery and the American Medical Association.
