Kaixuan Liu, MD, PhD, is an endoscopic spine surgeon and medical director of Atlantic Spine Center in West Orange, N.J.
In his native country of China, Dr. Liu guided the first interlaminar endoscopic discectomy and cervical endoscopic discectomy
He earned his medical degree and completed surgical training in China before moving to the U.S. to further his career in 1990.
He earned a master's and doctorate degree in molecular medicine from Auburn (Ala.) University, where his research focused on stem cells, gene therapy and immunology.
Dr. Liu completed a fellowship in endoscopic spine surgery at the Advanced Orthopedics of South Florida in Miami, before opening his practice in New Jersey.
He is the founding member and a board member of the International Society of Endoscopic Spine Surgery.
