A surgeon who used a novel technique on a spine patient last month and nine more spine surgeons to know:

Juan Alzate, MD. The American Center for Spine & Neurosurgery (Libertyville, Ill.). Dr. Alzate graduated with honors from the Universided Del Valle Medical School in Colombia and completed a neurosurgery residency at New York City-based Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His specialities include minimally invasive spine surgery and endoscopic cranial-based surgery.

David Kaye, MD. Rothman Orthopaedic Institute (Philadelphia). Dr. Kaye's research interests include lumbar spinal fusion and neck surgery outcomes. He was named on SpineLine's "20 Under 40" list.

Eren Kuris, MD. University Orthopedics (Providence, R.I.). Dr. Kuris specializes in complex spine disorders and is an assistant professor at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence. He has fellowship training in spine surgery and orthopedic trauma.

Brittney Lambie, MD. The Orthopedic Clinic (Daytona Beach, Fla.). Dr. Lambie is an orthopedic spine surgeon with a special interest in minimally invasive techniques, degenerative conditions, deformities and trauma. She joined the practice in 2017.

Thomas Loumeau, MD. Bone and Joint Institute of South Georgia (Jesup). Dr. Loumeau received his medical degree from Trinity College of Medicine in Ireland and completed his residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He was recently published in the European Journal of Spine Surgery and did volunteer work in Haiti.

William McClellan, MD. OrthoCincy (Florence, Ky.). Dr. McClellan's clinical interests include degenerative disorders in adults and minimally invasive spine surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque and completed his residency at The University of Cincinnati School of Medicine.

Alan Moelleken, MD. The Spine and Orthopedic Center (Santa Barbara, Calif.). Dr. Moelleken has been the chair of Tri-County Spine and Orthopedic Conference for the past 25 years. He's also an adjunct professor at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima, Wash.

Arya Varthi, MD. Yale School of Medicine (New Haven, Conn.). Dr. Varthi is an assistant professor who specializes in minimally invasive and open spine surgery. He directs the spine surgery fellowship at Yale and has contributed to leading spine surgery textbooks.

Rohit Verma, MD. Northwell Health Physician Partners (Great Neck, N.Y.). Dr. Verma's areas of focus include neuropathy, disc replacement, spinal stenosis and lumbar interbody fusion. He has dual fellowship training in spine surgery and neurosurgery.

Anthony Virella, MD. Virella Spine Surgery (Agoura Hills, Calif.). Dr. Virella received his medical degree from New York City-based Columbia University Valegos College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his residency at the University of California Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine. He recently performed an M6-C surgery on a man hurt in a car accident.
