Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Michael Groff of Brigham and Women's Hospital

Michael Groff, MD, is a spinal neurosurgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Dr. Groff leads the spinal neurosurgery department as vice chair and director. His clinical focus is on complex cervical spine surgery, spinal oncology, intradural spinal cord tumors and minimally invasive surgery. His research interests include spinal biomechanics and health services research.

Dr. Groff is involved in several neurosurgical societies and is a past chair of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons/Congress of Neurological Surgeons' joint section of the spine and peripheral nerves.

He received his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
