MILD for Spinal Stenosis: 3-Year Follow-Up Analysis

An article published in Spine examines the three-year outcomes for patients who underwent microendoscopic posterior decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis.

The researchers examined 105 patients who underwent microendoscopy-assisted MILD and found:

 

•    Operative time was 99.3 minutes on average
•    Intraoperative bleeding was 15.7 mL on average
•    VAS scores assessing surgical site pain was 20.6 mm on day one postoperatively
•    Average serum creatine kinase on postoperative day one was 145.4 IU/L
•    C-reactive protein on postoperative day three was 2.7 mg/dL
•    TW cases had surgical complication
•    Average reduction rate of the facet joint was 3 percent
•    Revision procedures were performed in eight cases
