Neuroscientist Ali Rezai, MD, left the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
Dr. Rezai was director of the Neurological Institute, Ross Center for Brain Health and Performance and Stanley D. and Joan H. Ross Chair in Neuromodulation during his eight years at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. While at Ohio State, Dr. Rezai used brain implants to treat Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and traumatic brain injury. He also developed technology to treat chronic pain and headaches.
He spent the first half of his tenure under former President E. Gordon Gee who became president at WVU Medicine health system, and Dr. Rezai has chosen to follow him.
Dr. Rezai will now lead clinical trails and research programs at WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, a new program for the health system. His annual salary at WVU Medicine will be $995,000, according to the report.
