Georgia football player turned orthopedic surgeon makes college's 40 under 40 list

OrthoGeorgia orthopedic spine surgeon Ryan Schnetzer, MD, made the University of Georgia's 40 Under 40 Alumni list, The Telegraph reports.

What you should know:

1. Dr. Schnetzer went to Athens-based UGA in 2001. He walked on to the Georgia Bulldogs and was part of the 2005 SEC championship team.

2. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University, completed his residency at Gainesville-based University of Florida and completed a spine surgery fellowship at Madison-based University of Wisconsin.

3. Dr. Schnetzer joined OrthoGeorgia in 2016, seeing patients out of the group's Macon location. He said he enjoys his job because he eliminates patient pain.
