Discectomy performance similar in MIS, endoscopic approach

Spine

A study from Life Spine found that the company's endoscopic transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion platform performed as well as a minimally invasive tubular approach.

The study evaluated outcomes across 29 spinal levels — 14 endoscopic TLIF procedures and 15 minimally invasive tubular TLIF procedures, according to a Sept. 18 news release.

Researchers found the discectomy performance between the endoscopic and tubular approaches were equivalent, and there was no statistical difference between the percentage of discectomy.

"Our study demonstrates the utility of Life Spine's endoscopic TLIF platform to perform an appropriate discectomy for spinal fusion," Sohrab Virk, MD, an author on the study, said in the release.
