Ali Baaj, MD, is joining Northwestern Medicine in Chicago in 2025, he said in a Dec. 20 LinkedIn post.
Dr. Baaj will serve as a professor and vice chair, director of spinal technology and innovation and director of the spine fellowship program in the neurosurgery department, his post said.
"My primary goals in this exciting, new role will be to grow the less invasive, robotics, and enabling spine technology program and to improve access to patients who can benefit from these innovative solutions," he wrote. "Second, to help expand the outstanding research & clinical spine fellowship programs of the Department. Lastly, and in my capacity as the inaugural Vice Chair for Global Engagements, I will lead the international outreach efforts of this world-renowned Department with the goal of expanding its academic and clinical footprint globally."
He previously worked at Phoenix-based Banner Health where he last served as chief of spine surgery, according to his LinkedIn profile.
