Louisiana Spine Surgeon to Present Study on Stem Cell Treatment

Eubulus J. Kerr, MD, a spine surgeon with the Spine Institute of Louisiana in Shreveport will present his research on lumbar interbody fusion using a stem cell allograft at the 14th Congress of the European Federation of Neurological Societies in Geneva, Switzerland, later this month, according to a local KTBS report.

The study presents spine fusion using osteoconductive mesenchymal stem cells as a safe alternative to fusions using Bone Morphogenetic Protein (BMP). The study has also been selected to appear as an online supplement to the European Journal of Neurology.
