Admissions up 53% at Butler Hospital since opening neurosurgery practice: 4 things to know

The neurosurgery practice at Butler Memorial Hospital (Pa.) has increased the hospital's admissions, according to an article in Pittsburgh Business Times.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Michael Horowitz, MD, and Pedro Aguilar, MD, started performing neurosurgical procedures at Butler Hospital in 2013.  

 

2. These neurosurgeons operated as part of the Pennsylvania Brain & Spine Institute.

 

3. The hospital has seen admissions increase over the past two years.

 

4. Dr. Horowitz said community hospitals usually have lower healthcare cost structures than academic medical centers.
