Spine surgeon Huy Trinh, MD, retired early from Council Bluffs, Iowa-based Miller Orthopedic Specialists after a 24-year career, according to The Daily Nonpareil.
Dr. Trinh retired to take care of his wife, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he said. The couple raised three children together.
"We did have caregivers for my wife during the day, but it takes a lot of time and attention, so I thought it was time for me to stop working and focus on her," Dr. Trinh told The Daily Nonpareil.
In retirement, Dr. Trinh hopes to travel to Florida and Montreal to visit family and friends.
Dr. Trinh joined Miller Orthopedic Specialists in 1995, when it was known as Miller Orthopaedic Affiliates, as the practice's only spine specialist.
He completed medical school at Montreal University and underwent internship and residency training in the Edward Samson Orthopaedic Program. He completed a fellowship in adult trauma and reconstructive spinal surgery at Sacre-Coeur Hospital in Montreal.
