Ehud Mendel, MD, joined Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., according to an Oct. 25 announcement.

Dr. Mendel joined Yale in September as a professor of neurosurgery. He'll also serve as the disease center director of the spine oncology program at Yale's Smilow Cancer Hospital, division chief of spine and executive vice chair in the neurosurgery department.

He previously worked at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. There, he led a team that made advances in oncological spine surgery. He also pioneered a surgical technique to reconstruct the spine after spinal tumor surgery.

"Dr. Mendel is a world-renowned complex spine surgeon with particular expertise in spine oncology surgery and radiosurgery," Murat Gunel, MD, chair and professor of neurosurgery, said in the announcement. "He brings decades of unparalleled experience to Connecticut and our region."
