Washington Nationals pitching prospect Sammy Solis will undergo ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, performed by Lewis Yocum, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, according to an MSN report..
Mr. Solis was a first round draft pick in 2010 but began experiencing problems with his elbow while participating in the Arizona Fall League. He underwent a rehabilitation program, but the pain persisted. After the procedure, Mr. Solis will spend 12 months recovering before he can return to play.
