Mark Myerson, MD, recently performed foot surgery on Philadelphia Phillies firstbaseman Ryan Howard, according to a Philadelphia Inquirer news report.
Mr. Howard previously had surgery to repair his Achilles tendon and underwent the second procedure recently to clean an infection from the surgical wound, according to the report. Dr. Myerson performed the surgery and reported no structural damage to the repaired tendon. He removed the internal structures that had been holding Mr. Howard's Achilles tendon in place.
Mr. Howard does not have a projected time to return to his rehabilitation program, which he began before this second procedure.
