James Andrews, MD, founder of Andrews Institute for Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla., was recognized at the Louisiana Legends Awards Gala. The event honors Louisiana natives who distinguish themselves within their professions. Dr. Andrews is also a founding member of the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala. He is a senior orthopedic consultant for the Washington Redskins and medical director for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He also works with several other professional athletes from various sports.
During his career, Dr. Andrews has been president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and on the board of directors for the Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Knee Society.
