The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has partnered with Touch of Life Technologies to develop a virtual reality-based shoulder simulator to train and evaluate orthopedic residents in shoulder arthroscopy surgery, according to a Market Watch report.
This is the second arthroscopic simulator developed by AAOS and ToLTech. In 2008, they introduced a knee arthroscopy surgery simulator.
These simulators are aimed at making surgical training for orthopedic residents more accessible, less costly and safer than traditional training approaches.
