The joint clinical research grant committee of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and American College of Sports Medicine has awarded its first clinical research grant to William Meehan, MD, according to a News Medical report. Dr. Meehan received the $20,000 grant for his research titled "A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial of Transcranial Light Emitting Diode Therapy for the Treatment of Chronic Concussive Brain Injury."
Dr. Meehan, board certified in sports medicine and pediatrics, is the director of the Micheli Center for Sports Injury Prevention in Waltham, Mass. He also serves as the director of research at the Brain Injury Center at Boston Children's Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
