Bradley Gerber, MD, Craig Levitz, MD, and James Germano have begun to perform subchondroplasty at South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y. The minimally invasive procedure, pioneered by Dr. Gerber, is designed to give orthopedic surgeons access to and the ability to treat chronic bone marrow lesions.
Dr. Gerber is the chief of joint replacement surgery at the hospital, Dr. Levitz is the chair of orthopedic surgery and Dr. Germano is the chief of hip service.
The hospital's Center for Advanced Orthopedics was the first location on Long Island to offer subchondroplasty.
