The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has launched a new campaign among policy makers and their staff to draw attention to the quality and value of orthopedic procedures, according to an AAOS Now report.
The organization has taken out ad space in top publications read by legislators and their staff highlighting the value of orthopedic surgery, beginning with results from the recent societal and economic savings study about total knee replacement procedures published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery earlier this year.
The campaign also uses real patient examples on how orthopedic surgery helped them return to normal activity and a more productive role in society.
