13 orthopedic surgeons win AOSSM research grants

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine are set to present 10 research awards and seven grants during their annual meeting this weekend.

The 2015 AOSSM Young Investigators Grant will be awarded to Thomas Kremen, MD, of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, for his research, "Novel In Vivo Nuclear Imaging of Stem Cells in Tendon Regeneration."

 

Eight will receive the fellow research award in clinical science for "Improved Return to Play in Intercollegiate Contact Athletes following Arthroscopic Stabilization for Anterior Shoulder Instability: A Prospective Multicenter Study." The surgeons who received this award were:

 

1. Jonathan F. Dickens, MD

 

2. John Paul H. Rue, MD

 

3. Kelly G. Kilcoyne, MD

 

4. C. Dain Allred, MD

 

5. Steven J. Svoboda, MD

 

6. Robert T. Sullivan, MD

 

7. John M. Tokish, MD

 

8. Brett D. Owens MD.

 

The T. David Sisk Award for best research paper will be awarded to "Evaluation and Management of Wolff-Parkinson-White in Athletes," from Ashwin L. Rao MD, Jack C. Salerno MD, Irfan M. Asif MD, and Jonathan A. Drezner MD.
