The New Jersey Devils has appointed Michael K. Shindle, MD, as team orthopedist, according to a NJ.com report.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Shindle, of Florham Park, N.J.-based Summit Medical Group, also serves as team physician for the New York Red Bulls soccer team and as an orthopedic consultant for the NFL’s Giants.
2. He focuses on sports medicine-related injuries of the shoulder and knee as well as foot and ankle surgery.
3. He is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Association of North America and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
4. He completed fellowships in foot and ankle surgery at Oakland (Calif.) Bone and Joint Specialists, and in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
5. Dr. Shindle succeeds Barry Fisher, MD, who was the lead doctor for the Devils for the last 33 years.
