Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is planning a new facility in Frisco, Texas, according to a Community Impact Newspaper report.

Here are five key notes on Texas Scottish Rite Hospital's expansion plans:

 

1. The new sports medicine-focused facility is expected to open by 2017.

 

2. The Center for Excellence in Sports Medicine moved from inside Children's Medical Center Plano to a bigger temporary facility until the Frisco location opens. The temporary facility is a two-story, 15,000-square-foot building.

 

3. The new Frisco facility will be 200,000 square feet and an extension of the original Dallas campus. The hospital expects to break ground on the new facility next spring.

 

4. The Center for Excellence in Sports Medicine will include sports-related orthopedic condition treatment and concussion treatment.

 

5. Texas Scottish Rite Hospital has six centers for excellence focusing on spine, foot, hip and sports medicine disorders.
