Dr. Patrick Connor performs knee surgery on NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin: 5 things to know

Patrick Connor, MD, performed knee surgery on Denny Hamlin, a NASCAR racer, according to a Sault Ste. Marie Evening News report.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Mr. Hamlin is the driver of the No. 11 FedEx Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. He injured his right knee.

 

2. The surgery was successful and Mr. Hamlin is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2016 NASCAR season in February.


 
3. Dr. Connor is an orthopedic physician practicing at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte. He is also a part of the clinical faculty in the shoulder and elbow surgery/sports medicine, orthopedic surgery residency program at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

 

4. He is the head team physician for the Carolina Panthers, the Charlotte Knights and Joe Gibbs Racing Inc.

 

5. Dr. Connors completed a fellowship shoulder surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York.
