Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute has the most publications in three major peer-reviewed orthopedic journals, according to a study in the Journal of Arthroplasty.
Here are four notes:
1. Over the last five years, the Rothman Institute published the most studies in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Clinical Orthopaedic and Related Research and Journal of Arthroplasty.
2. In total, the practice had 44 more authorships on studies than the next highest group.
3. The study assigned points based on the first and last authors of the study, the institution and the level of evidence in the three journals.
4. "This study is the first that we are aware of to evaluate academic productivity of attending surgeons associated with adult reconstruction fellowships," stated the authors.
"This is a really special recognition for our joint team and research department," said Alexander R. Vaccaro, MD, PhD, MBA, president of Rothman Institute. "Their dedication to the advancement of the literature and their patients is unparalleled. I'm sure this acknowledgement will only spur them on to do even more in the future."
