Dr. Christopher Ahmad to perform Tommy John surgery on Yankees' Jacob Lindgren: 5 notes

Christopher Ahmad, MD, will perform Tommy John surgery on Yankees left-hander Jacob Lindgren, according to a New York Times report.

1. Mr. Lindgren needs the surgery to remove a bone spur from his pitching elbow.

 

2. He will likely recover in time for the 2018 season.

 

3. Dr. Ahmad is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and an attending physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, where he will perform the surgery.

 

4. Dr. Ahmad is the head team physician for the New York Yankees and New York City Football Club.

 

5. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
