Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had a torn meniscus in his knee surgically repaired by Chris Larson, MD, of Twin City Orthopedics, NFL.com reports.
Here's what you need to know.
1. Mr. Peterson is expected to be out for several months after the surgery. He also sustained a mild LCL strain that will not require surgery.
2. Dr. Larson is a renowned orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who specializes in ACL reconstruction, meniscal repair, hip arthroscopy and several other procedures.
3. Dr. Larson is the program director for three clinics throughout the state. In addition, he is the head orthopedic surgeon for the Minnesota Vikings.
4. Dr. Larson received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. He had a residency at the University of North Carolina, and returned to Minnesota for a fellowship in sports medicine at the Minneapolis Sports Medicine Center.
