Orthopedic surgeon Gabe Lewullis will be the next chief of sports medicine for the Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network, The Morning Call reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. Dr. Lewullis specializes in treating knee, elbow, hip and ankle injuries with a subspecialty in sports medicine.
2. His career began after he earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. He then completed a residency at the Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia and an internship and fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.
3. Dr. Lewullis will work with athletes at Lehigh Valley.
4. Outside of his professional career, Dr. Lewullis was a member of the 1996 Princeton Tigers basketball team. He scored the game-winning basket in the first round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament to upset the defending national champs, UCLA.
