The Great Lakes Sports Medicine & Life Performance Institute is set to be completed next month in Marquette, Mich., according to The Mining Journal.

1. Construction on the $3.6 million sports medicine institute began in June 2016 and officials hope the facility will be open to patients in spring 2018.
2. Physicians at the facility will provide comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine services, physical therapy, spine services, hand therapy and athletic training.
3. Research at Great Lakes Sports Medicine & Life Performance Institute will focus on non-traditional treatments for cancer survivors.
4. UP Health System Rehab Services, Northern Michigan University, Advanced Center for Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery and Perform4Life Medical Fitness & Wellness Center, all in Marquette, collaborated on the facility.
