Orthopedic surgeon James Pat Evans, MD, died aged 88 on July 22, reports Pro Rodeo.
A ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductee, Dr. Evans co-founded Justin Sportsmedicine, a mobile sports medicine system to provide care to professional rodeo athletes in arenas across the country, in 1980.
He began practicing medicine in Texas in 1959.
Dr. Evans served as team physician for the Dallas Cowboys from 1970 to 1989 and the Dallas Mavericks from 1980 to 1992.
He was a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Evans earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
