Karl-Anthony Owens of the Minnesota Timberwolves said March 15 that he will donate $100,000 to the Mayo Clinic to help increase the number of coronavirus tests the health system can provide, reports the Courier Journal.
The Rochester, Minn.-based system expects the funds to boost its COVID-19 testing capacity from 200 per day to more than 1,000 per day.
For the past month, Mayo Clinic researchers have been exploring new ways to test for the coronavirus.
On March 15, the number of patients in Minnesota who tested positive for COVID-19 rose to 35, according to the St. Cloud Times.
