1. Mr. Sale dealt with a recurring arm injury throughout the 2019 season. He was advised to undergo the procedure earlier in March.
2. Dr. ElAttrache performed the procedure at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles.
3. Dr. ElAttrache is the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation board chairman and program director for the Kerlan-Jobe Sports Medicine Fellowship.
4. He is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Rams, as well as an orthopedic consultant to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks and PGA Tour.
5. Mr. Sale's surgery has faced criticism at a time when the U.S. is combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. ElAttrache defended the procedure and others like it.
