Orthopedic surgeon Steven Struhl, MD, recently performed surgery on MMA fighter Brandon Medina to correct an acromioclavicular joint dislocation, according to a Sept. 1 news release.
Three things to know:
1. Dr. Struhl used his closed-loop, double endobutton repair approach to correct the dislocation.
2. The novel approach has a strong fixation, minimizes the risk of complications and allows for normal physiologic movement.
3. Dr. Struhl is a faculty member at New York University Medical School and on the teaching staff of the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City.
