Ohio State University revealed plans for an individual settlement program May 3 to resolve misconduct allegations against former team physician Richard Strauss, according to ESPN.
Four details:
1. Dr. Strauss, who died in 2005, spent two decades at the university. About 400 men have sued the school and accused Dr. Strauss of sexual misconduct under the guise of medical care, according to ESPN.
2. An investigation found the misconduct occurred during Dr. Strauss' work with athletic teams in a student health center and at a clinic off campus.
3. The university said it expects to pay $252,000 settlement per person to resolve five lawsuits, according to ESPN. The university has already paid $47 million in settlements to 185 plaintiffs, according to the report.
4. The settlement program wouldn't cover 23 new plaintiffs who filed claims in April, according to the report.
