Orthopedic surgeon Ed McDevitt, MD, was inducted into the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine's hall of fame.
Dr. McDevitt worked at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., as an orthopedic surgeon and head team physician from 1987 to 1999. During that time, he established himself as a leader and published a notable study on functional bracing following ACL reconstruction.
He has been active with Navy Orthopaedics and Navy Athletics after retiring from the branch, according to a July 21 news release.
After retiring, he served in leadership positions at societies including the AOSSM and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
He earned his medical degree at Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his residency at Portsmouth (Va.) Naval Hospital.
