Indiana sports medicine and orthopedics practice adds new testing and therapies

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics — Indiana's first sports medicine practice, based in Carmel — hired a rehabilitation and minimally invasive procedure specialist to open its doors to new testing and therapy services.

Michael Del Busto, MD, is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician who will provide patients with access to procedures the practice historically has not performed.

These new procedures include fluoroscopic and ultrasound-guided injections to treat chronic and ongoing pain, electromyography testing to target muscle and nerve dysfunction, shockwave therapy to aid in tissue repair and minimally invasive percutaneous tenotomy to remove deteriorated tendon tissue, according to a July 17 press release Forté shared with Becker's.

"We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Del Busto, whose skill set complements our existing team of physicians and staff," Jonathan Smerek, MD, president of Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, said in the release. "His areas of expertise are a great benefit to our patients of all ages, those with acute injuries as well as those with chronic pain."
