Mr. Franchitti was injured in a crash during the Shell and Pennzoil Grand Prix of Houston. He also suffered a concussion and two spinal fractures that didn't require surgery.
The driver will stay in Houston for a few days and then be transported to Indianapolis for evaluation, according to a news release.
