AAOS: Treatment Guidelines for Osteoarthritis of the Knee

In a recent study published in The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, researchers published a study highlighting the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Evidence-Based Guidelines on treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee.

 

The study covers several recommendations including:
•    Patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee should participate in self-management programs, strengthening exercises and low-impact aerobic exercises.
•    Patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee should consider weight loss.
•    Patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis should not be recommended to use acupuncture.
