Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., is teaming up with five area high schools and Northwest Orthopaedic, also located in Richland, to help student athletes assess and manage concussions using an online program, according to an NBC KNDO/KNDU local news report.
Richard Jacobs, MD, a sports medicine physician at Northwest Orthopaedic, will apply a cognitive online test for athletes to complete before incurring injuries so the level of damage can be assessed against the individual athlete's initial test after a concussion. This test will help the coach and medical team assess whether the athlete is ready to return to play.
