California's Dr. Cindy Chang Selected to be Chief Medical Officer for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team

Cindy Chang, MD, a University of California Berkeley sports medicine physician, has been selected as the chief medical officer for the 2012 United States Olympic team, according to a report from The Daily Californian.

Dr. Chang first volunteered with the U.S. Olympic Committee in 1996 and worked her way into the committee's training center. As the chief medical officer, Dr. Chang will collaborate with trainers, chiropractors and physical therapists to provide medical assistance for all athletes.

Dr. Chang is currently the vice president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Ohio State University in Columbus and completed her residency at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Chang also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Ohio State.
