David Altcheck, MD, a physician at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, recently performed UCL reconstruction, or Tommy John surgery, on Jamie Moyer, a former left-handed pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, according to a hospital news release.
Mr. Moyer injured his elbow on July 20. He initially went through rehabilitation for his elbow, but he reinjured it in November during a winter-ball game. He plans on returning to pitching after the surgery, which could take more than a year.
