A new center is aiming to make North Texas "the safest place in the country to play sports," the Dallas News reports.

The Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Scott & White Health recently announced plans to construction a $100 million medical facility focused on sports medicine and athletic performance. Here's what you should know.

1. The 300,000-square-foot center will open by late 2017 through a series of phases.

2. The first phase will focus on athletic performance, injury treatment and prevention and general wellness. It will include an ambulatory surgery center, advanced diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehabilitation, physical therapy and several other specialties. Additionally, the first phase will have an urgent care, pharmacy and several offices included.

3. The center will offer concussion assessment and treatment using technology created by FE and recommended through the NFL Head Health Initiative.

4. The center will be for both the general public and professional athletes.
